Joe Root hails new England Test kit for being like his grandma made - but fans split on T20 and ODI designs

England unveiled their new kits last night and skipper Joe Root couldn't hide his delight at the return of the cream cableknit sweater – just like his granny made him.
Root has never played in the classic kit as worn by so many heroes like Sir Ian Botham, but admitted he couldn't wait for the chance to pull on the traditional sweater that reminds him of childhood.

After taking over from Adidas this year, New Balance have ditched the brilliant white plain jumpers and delivered tradition in a cool, trendy music-fuelled launch at their Oxford Street store.
And even though Root is the epitome of the new age, playing reverse sweeps and paddle ramps, he will now do so looking like a classic England skipper.
