Donald Trump will send nearly 60,000 Haitians living in US back to poorest country in the Americas

Donald Trump is sending nearly 60,000 back to Haiti even though it remains one of the poorest countries in the world.
A huge population of Haitians live in the US, mainly in Florida and New York.
Thousands who arrived after the devastating earthquake in 2010 were given a special temporary residency status.
The programme was introduced by the US government in the 1990s to avoid sending large numbers of people back to wars or areas of natural disaster.
But earlier this year, then-secretary of Homeland Security John F. Kelly, said the situation in Haiti had 'improved' sufficiently that they may lose their protected status.
