19 year old wanted cult leader arrested by Police in Ogun




The Ogun State Police command has arrested a suspected cult leader, Daniel Bartholomew who is said to have been on the wanted list of the police.
According to Punch, the suspect was arrested on Friday.
The 19-year-old suspect, the command added, had been terrorizing residents of Agbara and its environs for quite some time now. And he has been on the police radar for a while until he was caught on Friday
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Batholomew had been on the wanted list of the command for the role he played in series of cult clashes in places like Agbara, Lusada and Igbesa.
He said the suspect was arrested opposite Crawford University, Igbesa, by a team of policemen led by Ajoba Lamidi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, when they were carrying out stop and search duty in the area.
‘Information gathered revealed that the suspect was arrested when our men were on patrol in Igbesa around Crawford University. On sighting the policemen the suspect, who was on a motorcycle, quickly made a U-turn but was hotly chased and apprehended’ Oyeyemi said.
Recovered from him, he added, were one locally- made pistol and one expended cartridge.
The suspect also confessed that he is a top leader of a cult group in the area and they specialize in recruiting young boys in secondary schools into their group.
Oyeyemi said,
“The suspect has made a confessional statement that he is a leading member of the dreaded Eye confraternity. He was arrested with a locally-made pistol and one expended cartridge. Investigations are however ongoing to arrest his gang members and bring them all to book”
The suspect however begged for leniency and promised to assist the police in their investigations.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, for further investigation.
